Bulgaria refinery set for new hydrocracker facility

The Bulgarian branch of Russian oil giant Lukoil has announced plans to build a 910-million-euro addition to its Neftochim refinery.

Under a deal signed on Wednesday, the Italian unit of Technip will build a hydrocracker facility to refine heavy fuels at the 142,000 barrels-per-day refinery at Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

The new installation, which is to become operational in 2015, is expected to convert as much as 92 percent of heavy oil into refined products, up from 75 percent now.
