The country’s natural gas system has been in a state of emergency since Friday as due to the cold wave that is sweeping Greece demand has soared to record levels, leading to a reduction in reserves.
At the same time, supply conditions are aggravated by the reduced quantities coming into the system from the Turkish side.
At least on Friday Russian giant Gazprom, one of Greece’s key suppliers through the northern borders, announced that is had immediately covered the country’s requirements with natural gas quantities beyond normal levels.

The natural gas grid operator (DESFA) is also considering the supply of liquefied natural gas through a second load that is set to get stored in the next 10 days.
