A group of hackers calling itself “Greek Hackers’ Scene” (and not Anonymous, as previously reported) is believed to be behind an attack on the Justice Ministry’s website on Friday morning that uploaded slogans and videos bearing anti-austerity messages including “Justice is coming.”
Greek Hackers’ Scene did however express its solidarity with Anonymous, a collective that has hacked into the site of the FBI.
The video featured a figure wearing a mask similar to the one featured in the “V for Vendetta” comic book series and film, in which the mysterious protagonist works to destroy a totalitarian regime.
“What is going on in your country is unacceptable,” the masked figure says. “You were chosen by your people to act on behalf of them and express their wishes. But you have failed. You have killed the most sacred element your country had, democracy.”
