Vassilis Tsivilikas, a popular comedian who enjoyed a fruitful career on stage, television and film has died at the age of 70.

The actor was transported to the Sismanogleio Hospital where he was pronounced dead early Wednesday.

Born in Thessaloniki in 1942, Tsivilikas studied English literature before taking on drama studies next to Pelos Katselis and Karolos Koun.

He was currently heading a cast in a Dave Freeman play at the Akadimos Theater in Athens.
