The wait-and-see stance adopted by investors regarding the debt swap process meant that the local bourse saw little action on Monday, with stocks and turnover slumping at the start of what is a decisive week for the private sector involvement (PSI) plan.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 734.70 points, slipping 1.95 percent from Friday’s close of 749.32 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index shrank by 2.93 percent to end at 297.15 points.
OPAP (up 1.19 percent) and Jumbo (0.27 percent) were the only blue chips to post gains, while Marfin Popular Bank (down 8.53 percent) and Titan (5.98 percent) led the losers.
In total, 56 stocks registered gains, 88 posted losses and 22 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to just 31.7 million euros, a record low for the last 33 sessions.Ekathimerini.com
