Greece’s main social security fund, IKA, may have lost as much as 20 million euros as a result of a scam involving several employees in its Kallithea branch in southern Athens.

Five IKA employees have been arrested on suspicion of illegally assigning benefits to people insured with the fund and taking a cut of that money themselves.

Two doctors who work for IKA in Iraklio, Crete, are also due to face charges in connection with a similar scam involving foreign workers on the island.
