Moderate Crete quake causes no damage

An undersea quake, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale, struck the seabed off the northern coast of Crete shortly before 2 a.m. on Wednesday, seismologists said.

There were no reports of any damage or injuries.

The quake’s epicenter was located 70 kilometers northeast of the island, Greece’s southernmost in the Aegean.

Several tremors have occured in the area in recent months but seismologists say there is no cause for alarm.
