The economic climate in Greece continued to show signs of stability in April, as it has done over the last three to four months, according to the monthly survey conducted by the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).

The economic conjunction survey’s index actually showed a small rise last month, as business expectations in industry and construction are gaining ground, while those in services and retail commerce remain stable.
At the same time consumer confidence remains at historic lows, the survey has found. IOBE points out that uncertainties in the local economy remain huge and the strong worries about the implementation of the reform program persist, resulting in a climate of anticipation ahead of Sunday’s elections.
A relatively positive finding has been the considerable improvement in forecasts regarding the short-term progress of industrial production.
