Panathinaikos beat AEK 1-0 on Sunday night to claim Greece’s second spot in next season’s Champions League, after soccer champion Olympiakos.

PAO finished top of the Super League playoffs after a convincing performance at home sealed by a Toche strike in the 62nd minute, thanks to a wonderful Quincy Owusu-Abeyie run, that saw them win 1-0.

Panathinaikos topped the mini-league with 14 points, while AEK ended up second with nine.

Joining AEK in the Europa League next year will be Atromitos and PAOK, which had eight and seven points respectively, as the Peristeri club snatched third spot from PAOK with a 1-0 win on Sunday at Thessaloniki.

Sokratis Fytanidis scored for Atromitos after 12 minutes at the Toumba Stadium.

The curtain on the domestic season has therefore descended, although UEFA is yet to decide whether PAO and AEK fulfill the financial criteria to play in Europe next season.
