Police used tear gas against a group of hooded people using Molotov cocktails outside a former textile factory during a fresh round of clashes in the harbor city of Patra on Wednesday night.

The confrontation followed Tuesday's violent clashes, in which five people were arrested and eight policemen injured, when locals gathered outside the disused Peiraiki-Patraiki factory, situated near the port and used as temporary accomodation by undocumented migrants, to protest the death of a 30-year-old local last week.

On Tuesday, supporters of the far-right party Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) joined in the protest and clashed repeatedly with riot police forces.

Three Afghan men are suspected of allegedly stabbing the 30-eyar-old following a disagreement.
