The euphoria that swept European bourses on news of the eurozone’s decision to back the recapitalization of Spanish banks on Monday saw the Greek stock market post a fourth consecutive day of gains, although the main index proved unable to hold the 500-point mark in the end.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 496.40 points, adding 0.75 percent to Friday’s 492.69 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index grew by 1.73 percent to end at 180.65 points.
Titan cement led the blue chips with growth of 9.74 percent, followed by Alpha Bank (up 6.08 percent). Public Power Corporation lost 7.69 percent.
In total, 77 stocks posted gains, 43 registered losses and 23 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 36 million euros, up on Friday’s 29.4 million.Ekathimerini.com
