The City of Athens has launched its “Holiday at School” initiative in collaboration with the non-profit group Elix, in aid of working parents during the summer season.

Aimed at children who are residents of Athens and aged 6-12, the program runs from July 2 to August 10 in two-week cycles accommodating up to 100 children at a time.

“We wanted to help parents who cannot afford to go on holiday or send their children to summer camp,” Elix’s public relations officer Dora Vouyiouka said.

Participants will spend a few hours a day at one of a number of schools in the city center that will remain open for the duration of the program, participating in a series of fun and educational activities.
