Two robbers who broke into the home of the PAOK soccer coach in the northern Athenian suburb of Kifissia were arrested on Thursday afternoon after exchanging fire with police that led to one of the suspects and an officer being injured.

The two burglars were caught red-handed in the home of Giorgos Donis when his wife returned to find them holding her parents and children at gunpoint.

Donis’s wife reportedly ran out of the house shouting, alerting the guard of a nearby home, who subsequently called the police.

The police arrived as the robbers were trying to flee, resulting in a shootout.

The first suspect was arrested on the spot and taken to a hospital for treatment, while the second was caught a few hours later in Kifissia.
