Tourkolias to helm National Bank

The country’s biggest lender, National Bank of Greece (NBG), appointed Alexandros Tourkolias to the position of chief executive officer on Thursday after Apostolos Tamvakakis tendered his resignation.

Giorgos Zannias will become chairman, replacing Vassilis Rapanos, who resigned on Wednesday for health reasons, but Tourkolias will fill the post of chairman until Zannias completes his duties as caretaker finance minister, the bank announced.

NBG’s international operations general manager, Petros Christodoulou, who stepped down as Public Debt Management Agency chief after completing the biggest debt restructuring in history, will be promoted to the position of deputy CEO, as Leonidas Theoklitos has also resigned, National said.
