A brawl between a group of extreme-right Golden Dawn supporters and a group of self-styled anarchists in the Western Greece city of Agrinio late on Monday caused considerable damage to cars and storefronts, and left one man injured, according to police.

Reports on Tuesday suggested that the brawl broke out when a meeting of the local Golden Dawn chapter at a central Agrinio cafe on Monday night — attended by MP Constantinos Barbarousis — was raided by a group of self-styled anarchists, spilling out into the streets surrounding the city’s courthouse.

Several dozen extreme right-wing and extreme left-wing supporters fought each other violently in the streets of the city, throwing stones and other projectiles that damaged cars and storefronts, before riot police summoned to the scene dispersed the mob using teargas.

One man was injured in the fight after he was hit in the eye with a rock, though reports did not say which group he belonged to.
