It has been common practice for governments to conduct a wholesale change of key personnel at ministries when they come to power.

The head of the Finance Ministry’s General Secretariat for Information Systems (GGPS), Harris Theocharis, is one of those that will continue in their role.

Speaking to Skai TV on Wednesday, he revealed that his department’s use of software that allows tax officials to crosscheck records recently led to some pensioners being identified as tax evaders. He said this was the result of checks only on one pension fund.

His department is working with social security fund to crosscheck the records of all insured citizens.
