Alternate Culture Minister Costas Tzavaras has pledged that the Acropolis will never close again due to weather conditions.
Tzavaras blamed unionists for the decision by guards to close down the ancient site on Monday, when the temperature reached 41 Celsius.
He said that he called employees representatives to his office after learning of the decision and assured them that air conditioning units would be installed in guard houses and that an ambulance would be placed on standby to deal with anyone taken ill at the site.
“I had the opportunity to speak with the unionists and each side gave its views,” he told Vima FM. “We have reached an agreement so that this does not happen again, even if there are similar weather conditions.”Ekathimerini.com
