Savvas Xeros, a convicted member of the November 17 terrorist group, has lost his sense of sight despite undergoing two operations at the AHEPA hospital in Thessaloniki, doctors said on Thursday.

“Savvas Xeros is essentially blind,” said the head of the hospital’s ophthalmology clinic, Panayiotis Oikonomidis, who carried out the surgery. “The defects in his eyes means there is no prospect that he will be able to see.”

Xeros was one of three siblings convicted for participating in the terrorist group’s activities 10 years ago.

He was sentenced to serve five consecutive life sentences plus an additional 25 years for his part in November 17, which was responsible for the deaths of 23 people.
