A prosecutor has recommended to a council of judges that they refused a request from the son of businessman and soccer club owner Makis Psomiadis to be released from custody.

Stavros Psomiadis was remanded earlier this month in connection to money laundering, embezzlement from AEK soccer club and tax evasion.

Father and son are being held in Korydallos Prison in Athens, where Makis Psomiadis was taken in May after being extradited to Greece from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).

In his recommendation to the judges, prosecutor Dimitrias Zimianitis said that Stavros Psomiadis is also suspected of hiding 5 million euros in earnings from tax authorities.
