The unions representing transport workers met Monday and called on the Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE), the country’s largest umbrella labor union, to organize rallies against the measures, adding that they may go it alone with rolling 48-hour strikes.
GSEE and the civil servants’ union ADEDY called a protest rally for central Athens next Monday but did not set a date for a new strike.
Staff at the Public Power Corporation (PPC) have threatened to hold rolling 48-hour strikes this week over austerity measures demanded by Greece’s international lenders.
