Tremor of 5.8R hits northern Aegean
A strong earthquake, which preliminary estimates by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center put at 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale, has struck central and eastern Greece, with its epicenter located south of the island of Limnos in the Aegean Sea, Skai radio reported on Tuesday afternoon.

The tremor hit 16 minutes after 4 p.m. and was felt as far as Athens, 247 kilometers away, as well as Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, since it was relatively superficial (11 km from sea level).
No injuries or damage has been reported as yet, with the epicenter being offshore, some 35 kilometers south of Limnos.
An aftershock of 3.5R followed seven minutes later.
