Public transport hurdles in Thessaloniki, Athens
Traffic jams were observed on Wednesday morning on the streets of the port city of Thessaloniki, northern Greece, due to a strike called by employees operating the city’s bus serivces. The drivers were protesting over unpaid wages.
The employees were scheduled to decide whether industrial action would continue on Thursday later in the day.

Meanwhile in Athens, commuters were bracing for a metro strike on Thursday, called by staff protesting pay cuts. In a statement released on Tuesday, metro unionists issed an apology to commuters saying they had exhausted all possibilities for negotiations with the coalition government.
