Runoff called in Cyprus’ presidential election
The conservative candidate in the Cyprus presidential elections, Nicos Anastasiades, and leftist Stavros Malas will face each other in a runoff on February 24 after the first round of polls on Sunday proved inconclusive.

The conservative candidate in the Cyprus presidential elections, Nicos Anastasiades, and leftist Stavros Malas will face each other in a runoff on February 24 after the first round of polls on Sunday proved inconclusive.
Although exit polls had suggested Anastasiades would garner over half of the votes, the final results revealed a strong showing for independent Giorgos Lillikas who came within 2 percent of entering the runoff. Anastasiades, the head of DISY, got 45.46 percent.
AKEL’s candidate Malas advanced to the second round with 26.91 percent.
