Stournaras lines up new meeting with troika
Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras is due to meet with troika representatives Sunday afternoon in a bid to resolve several issues, including that of civil servant numbers.

The troika is believed to be insisting for more details about the government’s mobility scheme for public sector workers and for up to 7,000 civil servants who have broken the code of conduct or have used forged qualifications to get their jobs to be immediately sacked.

Other issues that the two sides are expected to discuss include the bank recapitalization program, privatizations and a payment scheme for firms and individuals who owe taxes or social security contributions.

The meeting between Stournaras and Greece’s lenders comes after Fotis Kouvelis, the head of coalition partner Democratic Left, called on the troika “to understand and accept that Greek society has run out of stamina.”

He proposed the reduction of VAT for restaurants, an increase in the number of monthly installments for those who owe money to the state, longer periods for citizens to repay bank loans and a review of heating oil prices.
