Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) party leader George Karatzaferis on urged prime minister George Papandreou to reject the Competitiveness Pact proposed by Germany and France during the recent special EU summit, warning that it would bring "life-long austerity" and even greater cuts in salaries and pensions, in a current question he tabled in parliament on Tuesday.

Karatzaferis said that the new political and economic framework for the eurozone's future, the enhancement of the resources of the support mechanism and the facilitation for the loan repayments would be accompanied by a heavy price, that of full concession of the national policies on taxation, labor relations, salaries and pensions to Brussels.
