Democratic Left, which quit the governing coalition last month, said on Monday it would not support the multi-bill of reforms when an “in principle” vote is held in Parliament on Wednesday.
Without the leftists, the government still has 155 MPs, which is enough to see the legislation through in the 300-seat House if there are no defections. After the “in principle” vote, each article of the bill will also be voted on separately. The multi-bill has more than 100 articles.
Democratic Left said it would oppose the legislation because it contained provisions that had nothing to do with fiscal targets and were beyond Greece’s commitments as part of its bailout agreement with the troika.
