Authorities plan to verify the authenticity of civil servants’ university degrees and foreign language certificates in a bid to clamp down on corruption in the state sector.

Speaking to Antenna TV on Wednesday, Evi Christofilopoulou, who is deputy minister for administrative reform, said the checks will begin with civil servants included in the so-called mobility scheme.

She added that the government will accelerate the operations of disciplinary committees ruling on the cases of oath-breaking state sector employees.
