Cavos tuna removed from supermarket shelves after poisoning warning

Food watchdog EFET said Friday that it had asked for cans of Cavos tuna in oil to be removed from shop shelves after it was found to contain high levels of scombrotoxin, also known as histamine.

If scombrotoxin is consumed in large enough amounts, it can cause food poisoning.

EFET advised consumers who had bought the tuna not to eat it.
