The country’s umbrella union for private sector worker, the General Confederation of Greek Labor, known by its acronym GSEE, is considering holding a new 24-hour strike on November 6.

The union’s board is is to decide on whether to proceed with the action when it convenes next Wednesday.

GSEE, and the main union representing the country’s civil servants, ADEDY, have held a series of strikes this year to protest an ongoing austerity drive imposed by the government in return for continued rescue funding from the country’s international creditors. The new action would be a protest against a new unified property tax, which unions fear will be higher than previous levies, and fears of fresh cuts to salaries and pensions.
