Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos is due to visit Albania on Monday for a meeting with the country’s recently-appointed Prime Minister Edi Rama and other senior officials.

The election of Rama, former Tirana mayor, has raised hopes for an improvement in formerly stagnant bilateral ties.

Venizelos is also scheduled to hold talks with Albanian President Bujar Nishani, his counterpart Ditmir Bushati and representatives of the country’s opposition parties.

Venizelos, who is also Greece’s deputy minister, is to meet with Archbishop Anastasios of Albania as well.
