Greeks using police guards for security to pay 2,000 euros a month to the state

Greeks who hire police officers for their personal security and who have an annual income in excess of 100,000 euros will be asked to pay a monthly fee of 2,000 euros to the Greek state, according to a new ministerial decision made public on Tuesday.

The decision by the Public Order Ministry also stipulates an additional charge of 50 euros per day for each state vehicle that is allocated for the purpose of guarding a private individual.

Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias submitted the ministerial decision to Parliament on Tuesday in response to a question by socialist PASOK deputy Costas Triantafyllou regarding the allocation of police resources for the security of private individuals.
