If a compromise is not reached by Monday, when staff are to enter their ninth week of action in protest at the government’s civil service overhaul, students will not have completed adequate lessons for the semester.
Meanwhile Athens prosecutor Panayiota Fakou ordered a probe into reports that staff at both universities have been receiving full pay despite being on strike for the past two months.
