Waste plan for Peloponnese in the works

A plan for managing the refuse of Greece’s Peloponnese peninsula foresees the creation of three waste processing plants and two transit facilities and is to start operating by the end of next year, Kathimerini understands.

A feasibility study for the project is awaiting the approval of the Environment Ministry and will then be put to public discussion, according to sources who said the aim is for construction to begin in the first quarter of 2014 and to conclude within a year.

The spots slated for the three waste processing plants are Valtetsi in the municipality of Tripoli, Meligala in Oichalia and Skala in Evrota. The transit facilities are to be located in Tenea, Corinthia, and Nea Kio, Argolida.
