Many cash in gains as benchmark heads south for 3rd week

Again, investors chose the last day of the week to capitalize on short-term gains this Friday, making it the third consecutive week of decline for the benchmark index, hence the rise in turnover compared to volumes recorded in previous days.

Again, investors chose the last day of the week to capitalize on short-term gains this Friday, making it the third consecutive week of decline for the benchmark index, hence the rise in turnover compared to volumes recorded in previous days.

Again, investors chose the last day of the week to capitalize on short-term gains this Friday, making it the third consecutive week of decline for the benchmark index, hence the rise in turnover compared to volumes recorded in previous days.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,133.46 points, shedding 0.89 percent from Thursday’s 1,143.62 points. On a weekly basis it gave up 3.04 percent.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 slid 0.84 percent to end at 379.54 points.

New entry to the blue chip index GEK Terna dropped 5.79 percent, while OTE telecom climbed 3.17 percent.

In total 47 stocks posted gains, 84 suffered losses and 25 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 98.5 million euros, up from Thursday’s 82.1 million.
