Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos said that the distance between Greece and the troika is becoming smaller after holding talks with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Sunday.

Samaras and Venizelos, who also held talks on Saturday, were preparing for a new round of discussions with Greece’s lenders. Meetings between troika inspectors and government officials are due to begin on Monday.

Venizelos said that Greece and the troika are “bridging” their differences over the projected size of the Greek fiscal gap for 2014.

“The preparation is going well,” he told journalists as he left the Maximos Mansion. “The framework is clear: no more fiscal measures and cuts to wages or pensions. We are discussing structural changes and we that is what we want to promote.”
