Plans for Athens University’s Law School to open on Monday after more than three months of strikes by administrative staff strikes have been blocked.

Administrative staff and students blocked the entrance to the law school on Monday morning in defiance of department chief Theodoros Fortsakis, who said that classes would resume this week.

Students are due to hold a meeting on Monday afternoon to decide whether to hold a sit-in protest.

Earlier, Athens University rector Thedosis Pelegrinis was given an extra week to prepare himself before facing a prosecutor over the prolonged closure of the institution.
