Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias is due to attend on Monday the funeral of the 43-year-old policemen shot dead during an exchange of fire with two Albanian men who were also killed in the Prespes area of Florina on Sunday.
After the funeral, Dendias is due to inspect the incident where the fatal shooting took place. Ilias Kostenis, married with a 12-year-old daughter, was shot while on patrol with two colleagues. They were investigating claims of illegal fishing by Albanians in the Prespes lakes.
The two gunmen opened fire with AK-47 assault rifles when the patrol disturbed them while they were in a makeshift hut.
