The parents and friends of late rapper Pavlos Fyssas have issued a statement condemning the behaviour of about 100 Golden Dawn supporters who attacked an anarchist center in Keratsini, southern Athens, on Saturday.

The neo-fascists also tore down a banner that had been put up in the working class neighbourhood in memory of Fyssas, who was murdered there last September by a Golden Dawn member.

The assailants chanted fascist slogans and threw missiles at the Resalto center in Keratsini, leading to a home located in the same building suffering damage.

The banner, near the spot where Fyssas was stabbed to death, was also ripped.

In their statement, Fyssas’s family and friends said the incident was an attempt to “terrorize” them and Greek society. “It is one more knifing against all of us and against human values,” the statement said.

Saturday’s attack took place as Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris help a news conference to announce that he would be running for Athens Mayor in May’s local elections.
