The Olive Tree, the temporary alliance between PASOK and three other smaller center left parties, has announced its candidates for May’s European Parliament elections.
They include serving MPs and MEPs such as Katerina Batzeli and Sylvana Rapti. Figures from within PASOK, such as party secretary Nikos Androulakis and central committee member Aphrodite Al-Saleh have also been named on the list of 41 candidates.
The list also includes names from outside PASOK, such as Deputy Culture Minister Pantelis Kapsis and Kyriakos Pierrakakis, a doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford.
The Olive Tree said that 90 percent of its candidates are standing for office for the first time. Just over a third are women and 30 percent are under the age of 40.
