An administrative investigation into a fatal accident at a fairground in southern Athens just over a week ago has revealed that the local authority which rented the site broke the law.
Public administration inspectors delivered their findings to Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday.
Their probe found that Elliniko-Argyroupoli Municipality broke the law when it rented the site. Also, the company did not apply for a permit to run a fairground on the site. Furthermore, the fairground used an area of 2,450 square meters but only paid to rent 700 square meters.
The investigation also established that the local authority did not conduct any inspections at the site, where a 13-year-old boy was killed when a gust of wind blew a water roller into the air.
