Business resumes at Piraeus courthouse as bomb threat proves a hoax

Business resumed at the main courthouse of the port city of Piraeus near Athens on Tuesday after the building had been evacuated for around two hours following an anonymous call saying that a bomb had been placed on the premises.

The building was evacuated shortly after the call was made at 9.05 a.m. at the Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper warning that the bomb was timed to go off half an hour later.

Bomb disposal experts searched the building for explosives and determined that the threat was a hoax.

There have been several similar hoaxes over the past few weeks, including at the main courthouse complex in Thessaloniki and at the Supreme Court in Athens.
