Five Turkish nationals linked to the discovery of a ton of heroin last week in Attica’s biggest drugs seizure on record were remanded in custody on Wednesday after defending themselves before a magistrate.

According to sources, two of the five have admitted to their involvement in the racket which has also implicated a Greek shipowner in whose Filothei home half a ton of heroin was found last week. The other half ton was found in a warehouse in Koropi, eastern Attica. A total of 12 suspects have been linked to the racket, which appears to be one of the biggest on record in Greece. The probe into the case comes amid indications that Greece is a key hub for international drug-trafficking.
