A 41-year-old man and his wife were sentenced to jail in Thessaloniki on Friday after being caught in possession of 675,000 dollars in forged banknotes.
The man received an 18-year sentence and his wife an eight-year term.
A third man was also handed eight years in jail.
The suspects were arrested last year after they tried to sell 80,000 dollars in counterfeit bills for 10,000 euros.
Police believe the gang was aiming to sell a large amount of forged banknotes in Greece and other Southeast European countries.
