Counter-terrorism officers have located the hideout of Revolutionary Struggle leader Nikos Maziotis near the electric railway (ISAP) station in Maroussi, north of Athens, sources said on Friday.

Neighbors shown a recent photograph of the 42-year-old guerrilla told police he was a resident of an apartment block at 27, Ypsilantou Street, according to reports.

A large number of police officers surrounded the area in the early afternoon and were expected to raid the apartment to determine whether it is just a hideout or a weapons cache.

Meanwhile judicial authorities issued an arrest warrant for Maziotis, for attempted murder and armed robbery among other charges, and against a suspected accomplice of the leftist guerrilla. The 35-year-old is understood by police to be Maziotis’ right-hand man and to have participated in the abduction last year of the industrialist Giorgos Mylonas.
