The Greek Finance Ministry aims to have the new pay notices of the single troperty tax (ENFIA) ready a week from now, so that the corrected forms can be uploaded on the ministry’s portal (www.gsis.gr) by September 15.
An amendment correcting the determination method for the tax payable by each property owner will be voted by Parliament during the coming week, possibly on Wednesday.
It will also provide for an increase in the number of installments from five to six, with the last one payable by February 27, 2015 at the latest.
The government must also determine the procedure for the extension of a tax discount to the hundreds of thousands of property owners who are entitled to it.
The change in the way properties will be taxed has already been decided and its cost is estimated at 168 million euros, which means that the ministry also has another 160 million euros that can go toward tax discounts for those who are entitled as well as toward covering the corrections of any errors the system may have made.
The target for the collection of 2.65 billion euros at the end of February remains.
