Ebola checks to be conducted at Piraeus cargo terminal

As part of a broader plan by Greek authorities to avert potential cases of Ebola, the crew of all ships arriving at the cargo terminal of the country’s main port of Piraeus will be obliged to remain on board their vessels until the captain has filled out a special form with details of the ship’s route and all its stopovers.

The aim of the measure, regional authorities in Piraeus said on Tuesday, is to determine whether ships, and their crew members, have docked at the ports of any affected countries, in view of the fact that the incubation period for the virus is 21 days.

Any suspicious cases will be reported immediately to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO).
