Coalition partner PASOK has reacted to leaks about the new pay structure in the civil service by saying that it has not accepted the changes.

In a direct attack on Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, PASOK said he should “learn to consult more with coalition partners and spend less time on leaks to the media.”

Speaking to Skai radio on Monday, Mitsotakis denied that he had leaked plans to the media and called for a calm debate with PASOK. He also insisted that few civil servants would see their wages drop as a result of the salary changes he is planning.

Mitsotakis said that at the moment employees join the civil service with “high salaries in comparison to the private sector but leave with low salaries compared to the private sector” and that there is a need to introduce more pay grades.
