An outbreak of seasonal flu led to 23 recorded deaths from October until last Friday, while another 83 patients have been treated in intensive-care units in hospitals across the country, according to data released by the Greek Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO).

The organization also announced that last week 21 percent of Greeks visiting their doctors were suffering from flu symptoms, while a large number of patients were also visiting local hospitals for medical advice and treatment.

According to the organization, 40 out of the 500 beds in ICUs around Greece were occupied by patients with serious cases of the flu last Friday.
