Government feeling the pressure but ‘situation is in flux’

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Friday met with key government officials ahead of announcing his party's program on Sunday and an extraordinary meeting of eurozone finance ministers to discuss Greece next week, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported.

The meeting called by Tspiras was attended by Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, who has been on a tour of European capitals this week trying to drum up support for the leftists' plan to negotiate a new debt deal for Greece with mixed results. Also present were Alternate Minister for International Economic Relations Euclid Tsakalotos and Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis, as well as government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis.

“Every ministry needs to make its plan depending on the available funds,” a source told AMNA, adding that discussions regarding the proposal Athens plans to present to its partners and creditors next week are “will be taking place in the next few days.”

Next week's meeting comes after a preparatory session on Thursday failed to break the stalemate between Athens and the eurozone.

“Obviously there is pressure but the situation is in flux,” the source said.
