Man sentenced under anti-racism law after insulting doctor

A 57-year-old man who let off a racist rant at a Nigerian doctor working at Kozani’s general hospital on Thursday received a six-month suspended prison sentence after a court found him guilty of violating anti-racism laws.

According to sources, the retired bank manager visited the hospital on Tuesday night to see a doctor and launched into a racist tirade when faced with the 29-year-old.

The doctor visited police and sued the 57-year-old immediately after the incident, leading to his arrest.

In his defense in court, the 57-year-old apologized for the rant, which included references to Hitler and soap, and insisted he was not a racist, expressing his admiration for Nelson Mandela and noting that his parents were immigrants in Germany.
